The beginning of the end. How much time is left? 20(17) days!! Everything we’ve known for four years is just, over. It’s remarkable to reflect and realize how fast this time has passed. It feels as though freshman year was just yesterday. I remember walking down these halls for the first time and thinking to myself, “Wow, I have a long journey ahead and suddenly, this journey is finished. Now we are all on our way to the next step. There are so many different emotions, sad, excited, scared; however, the one thing we can all agree on is that fact the Patchogue-Medford High School will always be our home.

We asked member of the Senior Class to answer three questions related to the final countdown.

THERE ARE 20 CLASS DAYS LEFT. HOW ARE YOU FEELING ABOUT THAT?

“20 days left makes me very sad. High school went by too quickly, and though I am ready for the next chapter of my life to start, it’s very sad that everything I have ever known is abut to change.” ~ Christina

“At the beginning of the year I was antsy and prepared to say goodbye but as the weeks go faster and classes begin to wind down, I’m sad. Pat-Med is all I have ever known and I’m scared of not knowing what comes next.” ~Samantha

“I’m sad, excited, terrified, proud, and so many more emotions all at the same time. I haven’t decided how I’m feeling yet because it doesn’t seem real.” ~Lauren

“I’m feeling very excited. I know I spent my time well here at Pat-Med and I’m excited to move on to bigger things and start a career.” ~Meghan

“All year long, I have been hoping that the time would fly faster — I wanted to graduate! However, as graduation drew near, I started thinking of all the things that I would never do again. There would be no Mrs. Cossack on the morning announcements. I would no longer be able to complain about AP exams anymore! The ending feels bittersweet and I would like to spend a lot of time with my friends that I will not see often in the future.” ~Jennifer

WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO REGARDING THE END OF THE YEAR EVERNT? EXPLAIN.

“I am mostly looking forward to the end of the year event, the AFJROTC Banquet. I’ve been going for the past 3 years, this year will be my last, it will also be Colonel Atkinson’s last year as he is retiring.” ~Hunter

“I am most looking forward to Senior Day. I love the idea of simply playing outside with my friends and celebrating our final days together.” ~Jenna

“I am most looking forward to yearbook signings. These serve as a sort of final thank you or good wishes between friends and from teachers.” ~Brian

“I am, of course, looking forward to prom. Only once does everyone get to go to a party wearing a beautiful dress where everyone is equally important — there is no “birthday girl” or “bride” at the prom.” ~Hanna

“I’m most looking forward to graduation. I cannot wait to hold my diploma in my hand knowing I accomplished something huge and will now be starting something new.” ~Olivia

IF YOU COULD GO BACK AND CHANGE ONE THING FROM HIGH SCHOOL, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

“I would change not becoming involved in clubs sooner; Model UN, Robotics, the Musical because they are really what brought me motivation and enjoyment from school.” ~Michael

“If I could go back and change one thing, it would be to be on time to school and become a morning person.” ~Ashley

“I’d like to change the fact that this year senioritis came way too early.” ~Monica

“Even if I could go back and change something from high school, I wouldn’t. Everything that I have been through in high school has made me into the person I am today and I am very pleased with my whole high school experience.” ~Victoria

“What I would change would be procrastinating less — that is something I know I can’t do in college.” ~Sekai

“I would take more classes and electives based on things I like maybe more writing classes.” ~Nakyda

“I would have mostly participated more in school events like going to more games and participating in Raider Bowl. I only went this year.” ~Amanda

“I would like to have done my homework in a more timely fashion as it would have improved my time management skills for college.” ~Sierra

“If I could go back and change one thing about my high school tenure then I would have engaged in more community service activities because I don’t think I’ve contributed enough to society in my time here.” ~Vincent
