PATMED for Parkland is student-created chance to stand with students in the fight to end gun violence.

On March 14, 2018, history was made. On this day, thousands of students across the country participated in the #ENOUGH National Walk Out in protest of a lack of congressional action on gun violence. Organized in response to the recent Parkland shooting, the movement stands for those who have lost their lives and loved ones to gun violence. How many people have to die before change happens? Enough is enough.

It doesn’t stop there. The students have arranged the March For Our Lives rally on Saturday, March 24; a peaceful protest in which students, parents, teachers, administrators, neighbors, families, and friends will take to the streets of Washington D.C. and demand change, demand to be heard.

The Patchogue-Medford community is in support of the movement and stands by Stoneman Douglas High School. The Pat-Med High School G.O. has started a 17 Acts of Kindness campaign to raise awareness of the tragedy and to do our best to spread compassion and kindness for others, and Dr. Rusielewicz is open to the discussion of an organized student response on April 20th, in remembrance of Columbine.

But, more than this, we implore you to take part in the March For Our Lives protests. We know that not everyone can make it to D.C. or New York City, so, several students have come together with the National Honor Society to gain support and numbers as they attend the Huntington March For Our Lives protest at Heckscher Park this Saturday, March 24. Showing support in the march is the only way we are going to see a change, and we need your help to do it. Schools should be a safe place, we should not wake up, every morning, afraid of what might happen. We cannot live our lives in fear.

Please join us and demand for change. Demand to be heard. Because if we don’t, who will? If you want a change, stand with us, because together, we are #PMStrong, and together, we can win this fight. PatMed for Parkland.
