The Golden Knights Set to Make a Royal Flush

Beginner’s luck? I’d say so. This inaugural team has set records across the board in a single season, with one round of the post season to go. The Vegas Golden Knights are unstoppable, heading into the finals for the Stanley Cup next week.

The Golden Knights, being their first season, have obviously never won a Stanley Cup. However, their first year as a part of the NHL, could be pretty memorable and historic, if they win the Stanley Cup. Making it to the finals is already a huge accomplishment. The bets made against them not even heading to playoffs were obviously unnecessary seeing where they are now. A press conference earlier in the season in December, Gallant (head coach) said, “That’s the perfect world, but we’re playing well and we’re working hard as a team and we’re winning some hockey games. And all the guys understand. It’s all about winning games and putting your best lineup out there, and for now, that’s what we’ve got.” (reviewjournal.com)What he said is definitely put forth in their games and demonstrated with all the achievements thus far.

Speaking of achievements, the Knights have clinched the top of the Western Conference, and became the first team since the St. Louis Blues to advance to the Stanley Cup Finals in its inaugural season, defeating the Winnipeg Jets in to win the Western Conference Finals. During the regular season, the NHL’s annual All-Star Game featured 2 Golden Knights and their coach: Marc Andre Fleury(Goalie), James Neal (Right Wing) and their coach Gerard Gallant.

Vegas also has an extensive charity program. It goes by the name “Golden Knights Foundation.” Which, is simply a charity between the team and their community and fans. They held a Salute to Service gala raising more than $775K. They also have an award that will be given each year for the player recognized by the staff who gives and serves to the Las Vegas community. This year, the award went to Deryk Engelland. They also have retired the number 58, for the 58 victims killed in the 2017 Las Vegas shooting.

The Golden Knights have proven a lot of people wrong this season. They worked their way to the Stanley Cup finals in their first year and starting May 28th, will race to the finish, battling to the Stanley Cup.
