Located in the historic Carriage House Square in downtown Northport, Haven Art Gallery is home to works of art by local artists.

Living in the diverse state of New York, it’s important to take the occasional time to venture off the beaten path. Luckily, there is an amazing attraction located too close to pass up. Haven Gallery stands just off of Main Street in Northport. The gallery features a 2-story space utilizing almost every corner to display beautifully curated works of art.

Exhibitions at the gallery include more than just the classic illustration. Exhibits can range from drawings and paintings to 3-dimensional works using various materials. Art shows may also have handcrafted installations like a current show “Shadowlands.”

The installation for “Shadowlands” includes hand-cut butterflies from the artist, Mahlimae.

Now, you may be wondering what style or type of artists are chosen to exhibit their works at Haven Gallery. I was surprised to see the creations of many popular social media artists. Being able to recognize the work of an artist you follow is quite an amazing feeling. Examples of artists I spotted are Audra Auclair, Lord Gris, Kelogsloops, and more.

As for the experience of visiting the gallery, it is quite casual. On a normal day, you can explore and ask questions as you’d like, with signed prints of art, and even t-shirts available to purchase. On the opening night of an exhibition, usually Saturdays from 6-8pm, refreshments are offered and the artists may be present. This gives you the opportunity to meet the creator and learn more about their work and process.

The Haven Gallery is something I found on a whim, and felt the need to share. The gallery and environment around it are not only beautiful, but filled with attractions. We are so fortunate to have so many close small businesses, it’s time we support them and see what they have to offer.
