Country music is popular all over the world, even here on Long Island! November 2nd the Country Music Awards, also known as the CMAs took place. In celebration of “The 50th Annual CMA Awards,” CMA has created the biggest music video in Country Music history. Titled “Forever Country,” the single and accompanying music video featured 30 CMA Award-winning acts. Awards went out to many talented artists. For ex-ample, Single of the Year went to Thomas Rhett’s “Die a Happy Man”, Album of the Year went to Eric Chruchs’ “Mr. Misunderstood”, and Song of the Year went to “Humble and Kind” by Lori McKenna along with many other awards. This years CMAs surprising-ly only had 12.9 million viewers, an all time low, this is because of the 40 million viewers watching the World Series game on the same night.

Dolly Parton received the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award during the 2016 CMA Award Show. The honor was presented to Parton by her longtime friend Lily Tomlin, who co-starred with the icon in the movie “9 to 5”. “Dolly is country music,” Tomlin said from stage, later adding, “Dolly helped build Nashville … and is a force of nature, and one of the greatest artists in the history of country music.” Prior to Parton accepting the award, multiple artists performed covers of her hits in tribute.

Can’t get enough of this legend? Coming up soon is the premiere of Dolly Parton’s “Christmas of Many Colors” which airs on NBC on November 30th; it is the spinoff of her film from last year. Last December, just in time for Christmas, the amazing Dolly Parton delighted viewers and critics alike with her deeply heartwarming tale drawn straight from her inspiring real life and music. In an all-new holiday sequel, the Parton’s, a family of humble means living in the mountains of Tennessee, face a devastating event that challenges their will. But when they experience a bewildering Christmas miracle, the Parton’s are drawn closer together than ever – with deepened faith and love for one another. The film last year had 15.9 million viewers and she hopes this one will have even more so tune in to NBC on the 30th to watch!

Lastly, Kenny Rogers, another huge country star, is going on his last tour called “The Gamblers Last Deal”. He does a Christmas tour just about every year because Christmas is his favorite time of the year “The feeling I get performing on the Christmas tour is one of the things I’ll really miss about not being on the road. We will be sure to take extra time to cherish some moments on this last go around, and I hope as many people as possible will be able to join us in creating a new set of holiday memories” he says.

This tour is the last chance to see Kenny on Long Island; he will visit the West-bury on December 23rd for the final time for the 35th annual tour. “The Gambler’s Last Deal” concerts feature an all-new show, including a reflective look back through Rogers’ storied 50-plus-year career. Enhanced with personal stories, vintage photos and video clips—including never-before-seen footage—the music-filled retrospective will touch on every part of Rogers’ career. Along with his long list of hits, Rogers is singing songs in concert that he hasn’t performed in years. It’s the last chance Long Islanders like us have to see such a big person in country close to home.

If you are a country fan be sure to check out the full list of CMA results, watch the premiere of Dolly’s new film, and if you can, see Kenny in Westbury in December — all big things happening in the country world you just can’t miss!
