Anyone who plays football would be excited if they threw, caught, and rushed for a touchdown. One might be so happy that they would even celebrate in the end zone; however, since the start of the 2016 NFL season the amount of penalties and fines given to players have drastically increased.

The NFL rules have stated since 1948 that “any prolonged, excessive, or premeditated celebration by individual players or groups of players will be construed as unsportsmanlike conduct.” In a sense the NFL is saying “you can make a game winning catch, but you aren’t allowed to celebrate it.”

Players and fans have shown their dislike for the penalties and fines being given. People feel that it is ridiculous to fine players for being happy.

Players have started to show their dislike for these penalties. Recently, Kanas City Chiefs’ Tight End, Travis Kelce, was ejected after being flagged for excessive celebration. His response to it was taking his hand towel and throwing it at the official as if it were a flag mocking the original call. Kelce has been the first to stand up against these unorthodox penalties and was punished for doing so. Will players protest these rules and will the fans express their dislike along with players? How do you feel about these rules?
