Maddie Frascogna is running for Class of 2021 president. Voting takes place next week!

What made you want to run for class president?

I have been president of the National Junior Honor Society and of the class in middle school and it is something I really enjoy doing. I like to be a part of solutions and to be involved. I don’t want to look back on my high school career and say I think I could have made a difference and I didn’t.

There are probably some people in 9th graders that don’t know you very well. What do you want these people to know about you?

I am very friendly and am nice to everyone. I take things I do very seriously and I always strive to do them to the best of my ability.

What are some words that friends and family would use to describe you?

Hardworking, Honest, dedicated, competitive, kind, caring, smart, creative, funny, organized.

What are some things you want to achieve if/when you are elected?

It’s my goal to have all of our personalities, all of our strengths and all of our interest be used to make the class of 2021 the absolute best it could be!! Everyone here has something to share that can make our class better whether someone is into sports, music, or being creative acting, reading, writing, technology, art, or just being fun, our school and our class needs everyone!!!

Before, you told me that you were the president of National Junior Honor Society. What kinds of responsibilities did this give you? How did you deal with them?

I was in charge of planning meetings and set the agenda… I would come up with ideas and talk them over with the other officers to finalize them.

What are some challenges you think you will face after you are elected?

The first challenge would probably be to prioritize what we have to do and what to do to implement them.

That was awesome! Do you have anything you’d like to say to the class of 2021?

Thank you so much and please vote for Maddie Frascogna!!!

Giovanni Verdi is running for president of the class of 2021. Voting takes place next week!

What made you want to run for class president?

I have lots of experience being in leadership roles, and I thrive on working on a team, and problem-solving to make differences that matter.

There are probably some people in 9th graders that don’t know you very well. What do you want these people to know about you?

I am a person who handles responsibilities well, and works hard on the tasks at hand. I am experienced in this area and I am very reliable for what needs to be done. I represent my people well, and try to assist in the way I can. Outside of a presidential role, I enjoy having fun. I like to be creative and work with people. Lastly, I am extremely organized and try to use that in my position.

Before, you said you had experience in leadership roles. What kinds of roes did you have and how did you handle them?

My previous leadership roles include President of the 7th grade class and President of NJHS in 8th Grade. Also, I was President of Yearbook Club (8th), Vice President of G.O. Club, 8th Grade Musical, and Theatre Club, Secretary of the 7th Grade Musical and Yearbook Club (6th). I assistant directed A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Directed Class of 2021’s Homecoming skit.

I was honored to serve in each of these roles, and I always stood true to the kind of Officer/Leader I wanted to be. I always listened to ideas and fought for what others cared about. I was authoritative and maintained order (while still having fun) in each group. Lastly, I always tried to leave some sort of impression on the position I left behind, whether it be starting a new tradition for the club, creating a new task for the upcoming officer to do, or making assignments my own.

You mentioned wanting to leave your mark on everything you do. If you are elected, what kind of mark do you plan on leaving? What do you plan on achieving during your time as president?

As a President, I hope to leave behind a legacy of someone who represented the People well, and spoke out for those who didn’t get a chance to. I would like to have contributed to the community for good causes, and bettered my Class and the High School as a whole. As the Class of 2021, I hope that by the time we leave, we have united as a class and really enjoyed our Patchogue-Medford experience.

I hope to prevent our disappointing homecoming results from coming back in the future. I worked hands-on this year by directing the skit and helping with the float, so I know what needs to be done and worked on. I also would like to hold many fundraisers to donate to worthy causes in the community, and to reinvest in the Class of 2021 account so we can make events and activities more exciting and appealing. Finally, I hope to increase participation in the Class of 2021. The more students that are involved, the more class pride and power we have.

Do you think doing these things will serve as a challenge? If so, what things will you do to encourage people to become involved in the class of 2021?

These goals are inevitably challenging, due to the misconceptions about the Class of 2021. In order to educate and encourage them to become more involved, advertising Class Trips is extremely necessary. Class Trips are seen as rewards and numerous types of students enjoy field trips. Also, making our events sound more appealing and structuring events to become more user-friendly is important. Students want to enjoy time with their friends and Class Events should be a platform for this to occur. Finally, students, including myself, love food. So, pizza parties or bagel breakfasts can serve as added bonuses for their assistance in Class Events

Great ideas! What words would your friends and family use to describe you?

Fun, smart, kind, silly, generous, trustworthy, hardworking, determined, and passionate.

Lastly, do you have anything you’d like to say to the class of 2021?

I am hoping that you trust your vote with me, and that I represent every one of us well. It has been a privilege being a part of the Class of 2021 so far, and I would appreciate the role of president greatly.
