He knows if you’ve been bad or good…so, be sure to run the race.

Ho, ho, ho and a Merry Christmas! I hope everyone is ready to kick off the holiday season. What? You think it’s too early? No way, you’re crazy!

If you’re not ready then I have just the thing to help… Santa’s 5K Toy Trot held on Sunday, December 8th at 11am at Shorefront Park in Patchogue should be just the thing to get you in the holiday spirit.

Every year hundreds of people dress up in their best Christmas attire and register to participate in the 3.1 mile run.

What’s the best part you ask?

All proceeds go towards the Kiwanis Foundation and every participant is encouraged to bring a new gift to be donated to those in need. This year over 2,000 racers have signed up. It’s not too late to sign up, registration closes 12/6.

Not the running type?

Don’t worry they have something for everyone to get all ages involved in the event. Santa’s 5K is a 3.1 mile race ($30), Mrs.Claus is a 1 mile race ($20) and the Rudolph fun run ($0) is an untimed fun run.

Still not convinced?

The best part is you don’t have to run you can trot! Go any speed you desire in any of the races.

After the race you’re treated to food and drink under the heated tent where there’s music and a photo op with Santa.

“It’s amazing seeing the community come together and cheer each other on also the amount of toys going out into the community is very heartwarming” senior Mary Savi said.

“Even though it was raining last year it was still an awesome event” Red Cross club volunteer, Rachel Stein said.

If you miss the deadline don’t worry you can sign up on the day of the race. We hope to see you all there and dressed in your best Christmas attire. Remember to bring a toy and happy holidays!
