PJO Reviews: bringing you his comments on the movies.

Knives Out is an American crime/mystery film directed and written by Rian Johnson, who famously directed Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Johnson’s newest film features an absolutely star-studded cast; featuring Chris Evans, Katherine Langford, Toni Collette, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Daniel Craig, just to name a few.

Knives Out was recently nominated for the 2020 Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay.

The best aspect of this movie is without a doubt the cast. As previously mentioned, the star power brought in is absolutely used to the fullest extent. The ensemble of family members each do an amazing job at remaining distinguishable from one another throughout the entire film.

This combined with Daniel Craig’s embodiment of a “Sherlock Holmes”-esque detective and Ana de Armas’ performance as the leading lady really make this movie an enjoyable experience.

I also cannot forget to mention the clear display of creativity put into the cinematography and direction of this film. Despite some points in the film losing sense of reality in favor of a satisfying conclusion, the overall execution of the story was unforgettable.

Overall, I would give this movie a solid 7/10. It trips over itself a little bit near the conclusion but the performances here guarantee a very enjoyable experience. Knives Out is a great movie to watch while hanging out with friends or family and is definitely worth checking out.
