Better as Buddies

All chicken, no beef

Drake brought out Meek Mill the other night at one of his concerts in Boston. This was the most surprising thing in the music world all year. Both artists have been taking jabs at each other since the summer of 2015. Each putting out diss song after diss song trying to destroy the other’s career. The masses came to a conclusion that Drake had won after his diss song “Back to Back”  dropped. People heard it and the world exploded, Meek was being clowned, and Drake was on top.

It all started with a simple tweet coming from Meek Mill’s account. “Stop comparing Drake to me too…. He don’t write his own raps! That’s why he ain’t tweet my album because we found out!” This sent a shockwave into the rap community. Drake, a living legend, not writing his own raps. That’s pretty much a crime in the world of rap. So to save his career Drake had to answer. First with “Charged up”, Drake was just getting started. Then after “Back to Back” dropped, people thought Meek’s career was over. And then when he came back with his own diss song, “Wanna Know”, it wasn’t taken too well.

Things started to spiral out of control for Meek. He and Nicki Minaj and broken off their relationship, his albums weren’t doing as well, and the last straw was that he was put in jail for months. While he was inside he garnered so much support from other rappers and his own community in Philly. Even Drake, his supposed arch-enemy, had said at one concert, “Free Meek”. Once Meek was out, things had gotten better and better for him.

Making music, getting his life back together, and also making amends with people who he may have had problems with, Meek showed up at Drake’s concert. He performed his number one song ever, “Dreams and Nightmares”, and the two rappers embraced each other on stage to officially squash their long time beef. Hopefully these two artists can make some more music together, because when they get in the studio, it’s magic.
