PMHS News:

  • The high school’s Back to School Night will take tonight. It’s time to get back into the swing of things, here’s your chance to meet the teachers.
  • The DECA Blood Drive takes place this Friday October 5th. Take the opportunity to donate, see Mrs. Mars in room 222 to sign up.
  • The Annual Homecoming Day Parade is coming up fast and we have to get prepared to put on the show! Students and teachers are preparing floats, skits, and bulletin boards the week of October 8th to take part in the homecoming competition to secure a win for your class.

Local News:

  • A Deer Park Firefighter was honored for saving two lives on September 30th, pulling a man and woman out of a burning car moments before it exploded while he was off duty. This incident happened over a year ago but it is never too late to be honored for an act of heroism.
  • On Tuesday night what people are classifying as a “small tornado” hit the Ronkonkoma area with winds up to 85 mph and knocked down a countless number of trees which damaged several homes.
  • During the North Patchogue Fire Department Annual open house this weekend, kids and parents were taught how to properly deal with fire related emergencies and how to stay safe.

National News:

  • Americans made history on September 30 after skiing down the world’s 4th largest mountains which reaches a summit of 27,940 feet.
  • Hurricane Rosa weakens to a Tropical Storm over this weekend but forecasts still call for heavy rainfall in watch areas which include Nevada, Utah and California.
  • Snapchat is joining forces with Amazon to make purchasing items online even easier.

International News:

  • A new species of neon Reef Fish was discovered in the Pacific Ocean’s twilight zone and named Tosanoides aphrodite after the Greek Goddess of Love and Beauty, Aphrodite.
  • An earthquake and tsunami struck an island of Indonesia called Sulawesi which left thousands of people homeless and injured.
  • As a result the powerful earthquake and Tsunami strike in Indonesia, a volcano ends up erupting but specialists say there is no correlation between the two natural disasters.
  • Frances Arnold was only the fifth woman in the world to take home a Nobel Prize in chemistry since the prizes were first being given out in 1901.
