Stan “The Man” Lee
Remembering the comic legend
The entire world took an extremely hard loss this week with the passing of Marvel comic book writer, Stan Lee.
“To me, writing is fun. It doesn’t matter what you’re writing, as long as you can tell a story,” Lee says during one of his interviews.
Stan Lee spent his entire life worshiping writing. Starting with an abundance of jobs that centered around the written word, he eventually worked his way up to becoming an assistant at a comic book company- Timely Comics.
Throughout his time at the comic book store he expressed his love for writing and creating stories. In the May 1941 issue of CAPTAIN AMERICA COMICS #3, he was given the opportunity for his first byline. After that, “Stan Lee” became a household name.
With Lee’s growing fame, Timely Comics followed. The brand morphed into Atlas Comics and then, as will it always be remembered, Marvel Comics.
When Lee became Editor-in-Chief of Marvel, the company skyrocketed. Characters and stories were flowing out of him, writing almost every Marvel title. His stories always meant something to readers. Lee was able to address issues like discrimination, intolerance, and drugs with his comics.
In 1972, Lee ascended from his position as Editor-in-Chief and became Publisher at Marvel Comics. There is nothing he did in his career that he didn’t excel at. Stan Lee poured his soul into everything he wrote and he will always be remembered in the hearts of Marvel fans around the world.
