Hey, Where is my Sticker?
LIers disappointed that polling stations did not stock coveted “I Voted” stickers.
This year’s election has been full of surprises ranging from leaked emails from a totally reliable source that we can’t cite in school called Wiki to an audio leak of Trump and company speaking about the (illegal) things he could do to women because he was famous.
Long Islanders were simply glad that the drama was ending yesterday as they cast their final votes but many were taken aback when they learned they would not be rewarded with an “I Voted” sticker that the rest of the country’s voters were given. Feeling insecure about the validity of their vote, some took to Twitter to announce that they had, in fact, voted.
In response to the abundance of complaints, the Republican Elections Commissioner of Suffolk County released a statement saying to his knowledge, Suffolk has never given out the stickers. He also stated that the county could not afford the stickers because the budget would not allow it.
For a region that pays some of the highest taxes in the nation, it’s ironic that something as simple as a sticker cannot be purchased from the collection of our taxes.
