“I started Rubik’s cubing in second grade, since I really liked puzzles, and I used to play with jigsaw puzzles a lot. So my parents got me a Rubik’s cube, because apparently it was really tough. I played with it and played with it, first getting one side and then the other, then I finally figured out a pattern. At first, my personal best was 2 minutes and 30 seconds. Every year, I kept getting 30 seconds faster. But by the end of last year, I was in the 10 second zone. I entered a speed cubing competition and came in at the top 50, which is crazy, and I hit my personal best at the same time. I don’t know how I hit top 50, but I did it, I locked in.”
