Within Pat-Med, we have a club dedicated to filmography, production, editing, and anything to do with the process of filmmaking, our very own Film Club. This interview will help us to learn more about it from the club’s supervisor, Mr. Brunetti.
Q: What is FIlm Club about?
Brunetti: “Film Club is a place for kids to come and have a space to make movies and interesting films or videos that they feel like they need—whether it be materials—like lights, cameras, microphones, stuff like that… It’s a place where kids can come and make their own personal movies.”
Q: What’s your favorite thing to do in Film Club?
Brunetti: “Last year, we made a PSA, and it was an anti-vaping PSA for the district. So I’d say my favorite thing to do as a club is whenever we have to work as a team and everybody is all hands on deck situation where you’ll have—right now our current president is Aiden Christie, and last year was Sam Policastro—and basically you have two people working as directors, writers, and producers, you have a couple kids working as editors, and a couple as camerapeople. And it’s an all hands on deck thing where we take something and film a movie from start to finish, everything done by us. Actors, lighting, to the producing, to the editing, postproduction, everything is done by us.”
Q: Why should students join?
Brunetti: “You should join Film Club if you’re interested in making movies and you feel like you need a place to do it. We have computers with Premier Pro on them. I have cameras. I have microphones. I have lightning. I can offer you just things that that you don’t have to go out and buy your own. It’s a place for kids to be creative and make your own stuff, and sometimes just cover all the cool stuff going on in the school like Stick it to Cancer Night and Homecoming… It’s just a cool way to not only get involved creatively and make stuff for yourself but also to get involved with the school and make stuff for the school.”
Q: What’s your favorite Film Club memory that you’d like to share?
Brunetti: “I would say my favorite memory is when we wrapped and completed the vape video last year. We shot, edited, post produced, then post produced again since they needed re-edits, and we needed interviews and we did everything and we did that all in the span of maybe four weeks? Five weeks? And my favorite part was just when we finally finished and we all just sat down and watched it and everybody just felt so awesome of what we just created.”
