As a result of the New York State Board of Regents ruling prohibiting the use of Indigenous team names, mascots, and logos by schools in the state, the athletics programs of several districts have been affected, with districts being required to remove any Indigenous logos and names present on fields, courts, and sports uniforms. The state has expressed that state aid is available to pay for some expenses related to the necessary rebranding, and further funding can be requested through district budgets and other processes
