Could Geoffrey the Giraffe be Back for More?

This week saw a glimmer of hope for the beloved toy store brand, Toys R’ Us.

A brand revival could be on the horizon for a beloved toy store that closed its doors this past year.

Back in September of 2017, Toys “R” Us announced that they filed for a Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Protection. The Red & Black published an article explaining the bankruptcy if you want to learn more about it.  Many people were saddened by this news but with the advancement of online shopping, it was inevitable.

On June 29, 2018, all stores permanently shut down, marking an end of an era. Or so we thought…. The company started an auction for the rights to the brand as part of the bankruptcy process and bidders even began to submit offers. However, the owners of Toys “R” Us and Babies “R” Us cancelled the auction.

Representatives of the company stated that they expect to make a revival of the brand. They did not say when/if they are coming back for sure, but the mourning fans are sure happy to see that their childhood isn’t completely dead. This gives hope to see new generations enjoy trips to the toy store as much as we did.
