The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade has been a Thanksgiving tradition for many families to gather together and watch. This year, the parade is celebrating its 90th anniversary.   The character balloons, such as Felix the Cat and Snoopy, have been in the parade since 1927.

The Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade we all know and love was first broadcasted on the radio in 1932. Since then it has been drawing more than 3.5 million spectators to their televisions and to the streets of New York City.

The balloons are always a staple; some of the newest additions include a new Diary of a Wimpy Kid balloon, characters from the new animated movie Trolls. Also included in the spectacle are new floats, such as the Girl Scout Float, the Krazy Glue Fun House Float, the Aloha Spirit Float, and Deck the Halls Balsam Hill.
