Spotify vs. Apple Music
Which is the better music app?
No matter what platform you use to listen to music, music is music. So, whether you’re using Spotify or Pandora or Apple Music you’re going to get the same quality of music but some music apps are just better than others. For example, Spotify and Apple Music have been competitive to see which is the better music app. From that, the big Apple-Spotify debate has arisen.
Apple Music was announced on June 8, 2015, and launched on June 30, 2015; however, according to Statista Apple Music did not have a large amount of paying users that they have now until late 2017 with 27 million users. Currently, they have around 50 million people paying to use their app and it’s growing every day.
Spotify, on the other hand, came out on October 7, 2008, and by 2010 only had about .5 million paying users but that is not including the people who were using the free version. Over the years, Spotify began to gain more and more people and many of them now want to use their “premium” feature which now has them around 83 million people paying to use their platform but of course, the number difference in users doesn’t determine the quality of the site.
Features built into both Spotify and Apple Music are very similar but they do have their differences such as Apple Music doesn’t have a free version, it’s either you get it, or you don’t. Spotify does have a free version but they’re all ads and a limited amount of skips. Cost wise, they both are ten dollars a month but Apple Music has a plan that is fifteen dollars for up to six members and they both have a discount for college students which is only five dollars a month. As for actual features, Apple Music offers users the ability to watch music videos, see the lyrics of the song while listening, and ask Siri to play songs. Spotify does have some qualities that Apple has yet to provide such as: collaborative playlists, seeing what other people are listening to, and lyrics but mixed in is background information on the song.
Overall, both of these music platforms do the job that any person would want from a music app. Although Spotify and Apple Music have their differences, they have one major thing in common, the release of new music every single day and that’s what everyone is here for and what they use the apps for: music.

I switched over from Spotify to Apple Music and I noticed instruments that aren’t even audible on Spotify with most songs. However, Like a Soccer Mom isn’t on Apple Music so whichever choice you make, you’re making a big sacrifice.
