This year was an exciting year musically for many artists. Here’s a quick recap of the top 10 hottest songs on the charts of 2018:

  1. God’s Plan- Drake

The song captures the essence of an upbeat party record. Drake raps about luxury, fame & fate. The music video features the singer giving back and visiting local stores & other settings to pay for people’s purchases.

  1. I Like It- Cardi B, Bad Bunny, & J Balvin

This song features an old mix of the song “I Like it Like That” by Pete Rodriguez. The song pays homage to Cardi B’s Latin heritage through a trap-salsa beat.

  1. Shallow- Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper

This song was featured in the hit film, A Star is Born, starring both Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper. The song takes place when Bradley Cooper’s character, Jackson Maine, is performing a song Ally, Lady Gaga’s character, wrote. Ally then joins him on stage to belt the show-stopping song.

  1. Better Now- Post Malone

This song streamed as #2 in a variety of countries. It reached number 13 on the US Billboard Hot 100. The song goes through Malone explaining a difficult situation of two people loving each other but deciding it’s best to stay apart. But perhaps in the future they could reunite.

  1. Love Lies- Khalid & Normani

This song debuts Normani’s first solo release outside of Fifth Harmony. The song is described as an R&B type feel to explain how two people are drawn to one another. The song reached number 9 on US Billboard Hot 100.

  1. No Tears Left to Cry- Ariana Grande

This number 3 hit single on US Billboard Hot 100 is described as a dance-pop song to bring light and comfort but also make listeners want to dance & live the best life they can. After the singer had a tough year with the bombing at her Manchester concert, she had taken some time off but made her long awaited return with this dance worthy single.

  1. In My Feelings- Drake

This song described as a “bounce” beat ended up being one of the biggest dance songs of 2018. People around the world, doing the “In My Feelings” challenge which even the singer himself, Drake has featured some challenges in the music video!

  1. Mo Bamba- Sheck Wes

This number 6 hit on US Billboard Hot 100 was a single released from the artists debut album, Mudboy. It is a hip-hop, trap song that is actually named after Orlando Magic player Mo Bamba, who grew up with the artist in Harlem, NY their neighborhood!

  1. Girls Like You- Maroon 5

The #1 song on US Billboard Hot 100 for 7 weeks when it first released in May of 2018, is described as a pop/pop-rock song. The music video features several female celebrities such as Ellen Degeneres, Jennifer Lopez, even the lead singer, Adam Levine’s wife Behati Prinsloo with their newborn daughter Gio Grace Levine! As well as many other artists featured.

This record breaking single for most plays in a single day by a female artist on Spotify, has become the #1 anthem for every woman or really every person in the world. It has hit #1 in multiple countries. The song headlines as Grande’s first #1 single on US Billboard Hot 100. The singer even mentions past partners such as Big Sean, Ricky Alvarez, recent ex- Pete Davidson, and the late Mac Miller. The lyrics take us through a powerful empowering anthem about how instead of having hatred towards past relationships, everyone should be grateful for what they learned from each relationship.
