This year the Fashion Design and Merchandising CTE has the opportunity to collaborate with other CTE classes and clubs on this year’s fashion show.
Last year the fashion show was produced only by the Fashion CTE class. However, this year they have a variety of classes and clubs that are involved in the show.
CTE Fashion Design and Merchandising has the CTE Law Enforcement and the CTE Medical classes to help enforce the rules and to be on alert in case of any emergencies. They will also have the Jewelry Club and the African American and Caribbean Club participating. The Jewelry Club oversees making accessories for the designers’ outfits. Meanwhile, the people involved in AACC Club volunteered to be models for the show.

Having inclusivity like this is something so important for a fashion show. It exhibits a strong community within the CTE programs and lets everyone who’s watching the show see and appreciate how much work and teamwork it took to pull the show together.
Also, showcasing so many different body types as well as ethnicities can make others feel more confident in themselves.
Model Emily Cardanez a Junior in Patchogue- Medford Highschool says, “I hope that walking on the runway could make me more confident for the future, and I have also gotten to see how diverse peoples style in clothes can be.”
Not only does allowing other classes and clubs to participate in the show help to create a strong sense of community, but it also empowers students to explore other interests that they might not have gotten the chance to experience.
Emily also said, “I would model again if I had the chance because I love getting to show off my friends work, and I think it’s super fun getting to be with the other models.”
The fashion show isn’t until February, but the Fashion CTE class is already hard at work. Showing just how much work is really put into this event.
Designers have been creating sketches of what they want to dress their model in and making it a reality.
Designer Sarah Bonati, a Junior in Patchogue- Medford High School, said, “It’s a long process but at the same time it’s super rewarding to see the finished product.”
These designers started constructing ideas for the show in early October. Making sure the finished sketch is going to be exactly what they want to produce.
The Fashion Show is on the 12th of February. Make sure to mark it in your calendar and show appreciation for all the hard work that has been put into it.
