I was in law enforcement before becoming a teacher, but I really liked coaching, so I became a teacher and started coaching bowling at Pat-Med and football at another school. I found being around the kids helped foster new relationships and opportunities like when I run into students that have graduated, and they say that they felt safe in my class, and they tell my boss at my other job that I was their favorite teacher and my boss says “Oh yea, what did you learn in his class” and they say “I don’t know but he was my favorite teacher.” It’s not about what they learned, it’s about how they felt.
