The Patchogue-Medford Hall of Fame recognizes former students who have made significant contributions to our community. It rewards past students and inspires current students of Pat-Med to make an impact.
Mrs. Benedict Cataldo, the Fine Arts Committee Chairperson for Hall of Fame, said the Hall of Fame is “[…] an opportunity to recognize alumni who have continued to commute after high school.”
The inductees must go through a long nomination process to be selected. An application must be filled out by early Fall and, from there, one of three committees looks it over and either approves or declines the applicant.
The committees are broken up into categories; one committee focuses on sports-based applicants, another on music, art and entertainment applicants, and the last committee looks over any applicants not covered by the previous two.
After the committees, the application is sent to the Board of Trustees for the final review, and applicants are notified of their admittance or rejection.
The Patchogue-Medford Hall of Fame’s goal is to inspire current students by celebrating the greatness that has come from the Patchogue-Medford community.
“I think the most important aspect is, we want our students to know that there is greatness in everyone.” said Dr. Rusielewicz, principal of Patchogue-Medford Highschool.
During the day the inductees each have breakout rooms to discuss their lifelong achievements and inspire the current students. At night, the inductees come back to the school with their families. They’re presented with the honor of induction into the Patchogue-Medford Hall of Fame.
Overall, The Hall of Fame is an esteemed honor and a great way to get involved in connecting our community. Every year the Hall of Fame brings new opportunities to those who were once students of Patchogue-Medford and shows what students can achieve if the work is put in. If you’re interested in joining the Hall of Fame club and want to know how to get involved, feel free to visit Mrs. Sacco’s room 105 or take a glance at the Hall of Fame’s website www.pmhof.org for more information.
