The Farmer’s Fridge vending machine, a new addition to our high school, located in the lobby between the West Gym and the Auditorium, is already sending a buzz through the halls. It has had a significant impact on helping student athletes, as well as students who stay for extracurricular activities.

Not only does this benefit students after school, but it also benefits students during the school day by providing a fresh lunch and brain fuel to help students get through the day.
In a community-wide letter sent by Lori Cannetti, Interim Superintendent of Patchogue Medford School District, the Farmer’s Fridge initiative is explained.

“As a district, we know how busy days gets, and we wanted to make sure that nutritious, affordable food is always within reach of our students and staff,” the letter states.
Ms. Wernau, Director of Elementary Humanities, also shared how helpful the Farmer’s Fridge will be to the district.
“[It is a] Healthy option that will provide options when the cafe isn’t open for meals and snacks that’s reasonably priced and nutritious.”
At the April 1st Board of Education meeting, a presentation about the company was delivered, and they shared the following insights about Farmer’s Fridge:
- The vending machine holds up to 180 meals with vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options.
- All products are individually labeled with allergens, and there is no cross-contamination.
- The options cost between $8-$13 and accepts debit and credit cards.
As of now, the Farmer’s Fridge has the options of salads, bowls, sandwiches, and healthy snacks like hard-boiled eggs and grilled chicken bites.
