US Plans to Ban TikTok in Motion

Cybersecurity concerns worry the current administration, and plans to ban the app from the country are being set in place.

The future of this popular app for younger generations hangs in the balance as cyber security concerns fuel plans to ban TikTok from US consumers.

If you been one the internet between the past three years, you’ll know how popular the app ‘TikTok has gotten. With around 100 million American users on the app, it was a shock to see this Friday that the trump administration has finally gone through with threats to ban the app these past few months due to cyber security concerns. 

Along with the Chinese-owned WeChat app, Tik Tok on Sunday September 20th will be restrictedThe New York Times discloses,” In a series of moves designed to render WeChat essentially useless within the United States, the government will also ban American companies from processing transactions for WeChat or hosting its internet traffic as of midnight Sunday,” 

Following executive order in August, Tik Tok has been rumored to collect data from American users and reporting it to the Chinese government; although the spokesman of Tik-Tok, Josh Gartner, tells The New York Times,” “We will continue to challenge the unjust executive order, which was enacted without due process and threatens to deprive the American people and small businesses across the US of a significant platform for both a voice and livelihoods,”  

With that being said, plans of U.S purchasing the beloved app from the owners, but if it is not brought until November 12ththen even further restrictions will be put in place to limit its functionality with less updates. 

However, with these restrictions being put into place, if you still have the app already on your device, then you can still use it.
