Q: What is a brief description of the club?

A: Girls Inc. Of Long Island serves girls ages 5-18 across Nassau and Suffolk County. Ou research-based programming is delivered by trained professionals who focus on the development of the whole girl, supporting, mentoring, and guiding girls in an affirming, pro-girl environment. Here, girls learn to value their whole selves, discover and develop their inherent strengths they need to navigate the challenges they face.

Q: Is the club currently accepting new members? If not, when will they be?

A: We are always accepting new members! If it sounds interesting or want to check it out, feel free to come by! We will also be starting up again in the fall. (The club meets in room 216 every Friday from 2-4)

Q: I am aware that this club has been on trips in the past, what kinds?

A: We have gone to National Grid, NYC, to attend the Girls Inc. National Luncheon, CEED, Ester Lauder, Northwell Healt, Shea Moisture and a lot more!

Q: What is your favorite thing the club has done?

A: My favorite thing the club has done is always celebrating at the end. We celebrate the graduates and the time we have spent together. It’s also a great way to end the year. Another amazing thing was a few years ago Benefit the makeup company came and it was a lot of fun. They taught everyone how to do some makeup but also the ins and outs of a makeup company in addition to the various jobs in the field.

Q: Why do you think this club is a positive thing for girls our age?

A: Girls Inc. Provides a safe space for girls just to be themselves. Sometimes we just sit and talk because that’s what we need. I wish I had the mentorship and guidance Girls Inc. Can provide when I was in school. Girls Inc. teaches you about how to handle money, think about careers and how to get the job. We can help with college planning, build self-esteem, self-care and much more.
