Girls Volleyball Celebrates Graduating Seniors
The Patchogue-Medford girls volleyball team hosted Riverhead in their annual senior night game on Wednesday, October 12th. The match was preceded by a ceremony to honor the seniors who will be graduating from Patchogue-Medford in June. The roars from one of the biggest crowds I’ve seen at a volleyball game filled the gym air with energy.
The Raiders started with a commanding performance. Senior Kiera Welsh had a dominating outing at the net, spiking balls left and right. Both the Riverhead defense and offense had no answer to the Raiders’ aggressive attack and air tight defense. The Raiders won this first set 25-6
The next two sets were much of the same. The Raiders scored point after point, playing impeccable offense and had some fantastic defensive saves. They won the next two sets to sweep Riverhead 3-0.
The girls now sit in third place in Suffolk County League 3 with a record of (5-4-0). The girls’ final game of the season is next Monday in Longwood. Congratulations on the win and good luck with the rest of your season.
