Our high school marching band participated in the Newsday Marching Band competition this month along with many other local schools.

We all know the Pat-Med matching band. They are known for celebrating the football players when players score a point with their fantastic performances when they play. Or, you have seen them during the half time of our games.

The Marching Band has an amazing director, Mr. Carroll. Who has been directing for three years at Pat-Med along with other amazing staff.

This year, students worked so hard to get where they are now with rehearsals in the summer to after school at night. Some of the kids found it to be fun and some found it annoying,

“I love the night rehearsals, even when I am exhausted and tired, just because of the atmosphere. The summer ones through, Hell, it is hot and terrible and the last thing I want is to be there.” Our co-captain of the Color Guard team, Brianna Cruz said.

But at the end of the day, they realized it was all going to be worth it.

We have seen the Marching Band perform during our Pat-Med football games. They are honestly outstanding from their musical tones to the swings of the flags, Even their uniforms and the way they motivate those cheering on the bleachers each game to support our football players.

They are always the loudest bunch to cheer us on, and now it was our turn to cheer them on.

On October,18, 2023, Newsday hosted the 59th Anniversary of “Battle of the Band”.

The marching band practiced so hard for this moment, and it finally had come!

“Each school’s performance was amazing, but when I saw you guys go up, and performed I was in awe.” former Pat-Med student Alex Real said.

Many people enjoyed watching al the performances, even our students from the band.

“I really enjoyed watching other marching bands perform, I enjoyed hanging out with my friends even though I should have been doing my homework. But we did good for my last year” expressed one of our saxophone players, Damiano Scuteri.

Each year, Patchogue- Medford students put on a great show for us and always have an amazing time. They consider themselves as family. From rehearsals, to shows to just simply hanging out as a team. They all worked so hard for each performance they put on for us.
