The Pulsera Project is a great way for students to support others’ creativity while also empowering Central American communities!

Foreign language week is here, and Pat-Med is bringing on its best support!

The Hispanic Heritage Club has been working extremely hard in preparation for this week. Members have been learning choreography to Latino music which they will be presenting to the school.

The have also been selling bracelets with traditional Hispanic designs. There will also be handmade Ecuadorian bracelets along with other Latino countries so students can represent their countries.

HHC also been working with the Intercambio Club to help spread cultural awareness and appreciation, especially with the festivities of this week.

President of Hispanic Heritage Club Maria Barrera says she “is really excited as we work with many other culturally based clubs and groups in order to organize one of Pat-Med’s biggest cultural celebration this year!”

The Spanish Honor Society has also become involved in the week by supporting the Pulsera Project.

The Pulsera Project is a non-profit organization that connects with artists in central America who design colorful, hand-woven bracelets. These bracelets are sent to schools in the U.S where they will be sold. Pat-Med has received items from Guatemala and Nicaragua.

Each comes with a small tag that has the name and picture of the artist who made it. All proceeds will be given back to the artist whose bracelet you bought. Members of Spanish Honor Society will be selling during lunch periods.

Mrs. Weeks, advisor of the Spanish Honor Society, chose to support this project because she “wanted to do something impactful for a Latin community and it would also be a good way to get the society involved in a world civics project.”

President of Spanish Honor Society Bella Boss says she is “so excited for the Pulsera Project to be able to help countries outside of the U.S, that aren’t very fortunate and better their communities!”

She also adds that the society wants “to be able to spread awareness of the project and make the world a more colorful place one bracelet at a time.”

Foreign Language Week is a great way to celebrate all our cultures, and you should take the time to learn more about others’ backgrounds!
