Girls’ Varsity LAX Demonstrating True Team Effort
A close look at a recent huge win over Copiague.
Friday, April 21st: the Patchogue-Medford Varsity Girls’ Lacrosse team achieved a 17-4 win over Copiague. The girls played with skill and pride as they scored 17 goals and took over 20 shots on net.
Senior Riley Reh earned 9 points with 3 goals and 6 assists. One of those goals was carried to the net by her right from the draw circle. The girls used great plays and stick work in offense which led to freshman Caitlin Dellecave earning 6 points with 4 goals and 2 assists. Dellecave also caused the other team to turn it over several times during the game with her clean checks. After one of her caused turnovers, freshman Alexa Maggiacomo got the ball down the field which helped her earn 3 points this game with 1 goal and 2 assists. Dellecave and Maggiacomo work very well together in offense, both assisting each other with earned points. Seniors Emily Tabb and Brianna Sloup both had 2 goals during the game helping keep the score up. Earning one goal each were freshmen Shannon Lake and Ana Seifert, juniors Kenedy Peterson and Ellie Scalzo, and sophomore Jaelyn Griffiths.
The defense also played hard in this game and rarely let anyone by. Defensive players include Ashley Codispoti, Giselle Fernandez and Madison Hall. Although none of this would have been possible without the great work of freshman goalie Gabby Buscemi. The girls will keep playing hard to finish out the season and hope to continue improving.
