How difficult is it to really live a vegetarian lifestyle?

Many people get vegetarianism and veganism confused. Vegetarianism is when you eliminate the consumption of meat from you diet. Veganism is when you eliminate the consumption of meat and dairy from your diet.

Now, I can’t speak for the vegans out there, but I can speak for the vegetarians. I’ve been vegetarian for almost five years. I never ate too much meat in the first place. I didn’t even really like it. For me, vegetarianism is not hard at all and it happened on its own. I’ve grown to be used to it. It also opened me to trying new foods. I used to be so picky, but now I’m not.

There are many benefits to becoming vegetarian. If you maintain a healthy vegetarian diet, you have a very low risk of death from heart disease. There is also a low cancer rate and less of a risk of getting any chronic diseases. It also helps the environment and decreases global warming rates.

Being vegetarian does have its downfalls. It’s very hard to make plans with friends and finding a place to eat at. You must be creative and make new meals for dinner rather than eat the same thing every night. You could also develop weak bones if you don’t take vitamins or don’t maintain a balance of protein with your other nutrients. You also could lose a lot of weight which could be a good or bad thing along with developing low blood pressure.

So, is becoming vegetarian worth it? It depends on your health and how open you are. If you are cool with your diet now, then just leave it. If you want to try new things, go for it.

Sometimes veggie burgers and salads can be very appetizing. It can also really help our environment and make earth last longer than its supposed to.

Try it! Maybe you’ll like it better than your normal diet now.
