The word chic means cleverly stylish, attractive, and elegantly fashionable. There are many things that I find chic throughout my day-to-day life and what you find is chic differs for different people. You can find anything chic whether it’s a trend, how someone acts, attire, or even something that another person does without realizing.
1. Pearl Jewelry
Pearls will forever be my favorite- bonus points if they are passed down from a family member. They go with everything and easily make basic outfits classy looking. Pearls can be on necklaces, earrings, rings, bracelets, and they always look so chic.
2. Neat Nails
French tips, ballet pink, milky white goes a long way when your nails are cared for. You don’t need to paint your nails for them to look chic if they are cared for. STOP BITING THEM! Grow them out and shape them; my favorite shapes are almond or square. Use a nail strengthener to prevent chipping or breaking. Put on hand cream to prevent dry hands.
3. Having a Go-To Restaurant/Cafe
I’m not talking about going to McDonalds three times a week, I’m talking about having a niche little place to eat or get coffee where you walk in and the waitress already knows what you’re going to ask for. Kind of like Luke’s from Gilmore Girls. When I was younger, my dad and I would always go to the same luncheonette, and I would always order a lemonade, grilled cheese and French fries. Eventually the waitress would ask if I wanted my usual order.
4. Hydrangeas
Hydrangeas are by far my favorite flower. Houses that have huge hydrangea bushes around them are so chic. They can be blue, white, pink, or purple determined by the soil’s pH. My favorites are probably blue or white. Hydrangeas are great to cut and put in a vase.

5. Dog Names
If you introduce me to your dogs and they have names that go along with each other, you’re so chic. Some examples of this are Bonnie and Clyde, Lady and Tramp, Salt and Pepper. Also, names that are meaningful to you like Maggie from the Chris Stapleton song “Maggie’s Song”.
6. Having Hobbies
Having hobbies is so interesting and I’m not talking about watching movies or taking naps, I mean niche hobbies. Everyone should have at least one hobby to be active, boost creativity, and increase wealth. Some active hobbies are yoga, walking, sports, or any form of working out. My athletic hobbies are golf and yoga. Some creative hobbies include drawing, pottery, scrapbooking, writing, journaling, and even media arts. Creative hobbies are my favorite, I love using oil pastels, coloring, and journaling. Hobbies that increase wealth can widely vary. If you already have an idea of what you want to do when you’re older, try hobbies that can improve your skills in that field. If not, experiment with different hobbies, maybe you’ll end up really enjoying something and want to pursue it.
7. Beach Walks
Beach walks are so chic. Throw on a matching sweat set, flip flops and throw your hair in a bun, put in your headphones and listen to music as you walk. I think walking is very relaxing and is a great time to think and decompress. Bonus points if you stop for ice cream.
8. French Braids
French braids are so fun to learn and when you know how to do them, they look great and make basic outfits even better. There are many tutorials on YouTube, or you can ask a friend to teach you.
9. Nancy Meyers
Nancy Meyers is a movie writer, producer, and director. She directed and wrote The Parent Trap, The Holiday, It’s Complicated, and my favorite, Something’s Gotta Give. Her movies are known for their gorgeous interior design, witty dialogue, and cozy scenes. Her movies are perfect to watch after a long day.
10. Having a Bowl of Shells
This one is very random, but I find it very chic. A bowl of shells can act as a great table or shelf decor that you can add to gradually. Making them is simple. All you have to buy is a decorative bowl; I like blue floral bowls. Then, go to the beach and find shells, rocks, sand dollar, beach glass or any other natural materials you find.
