The Patchogue-Medford High School newspaper, the Red and Black, has been around for decades, specifically starting in 1928. This paper has been expanding ever since then. This year we are trying to expand it even further with our new online version.

We would like to welcome students, parents, and faculty to follow our official account on Twitter: @PMHSNews_RnB. This will give you access to information about the paper, links to the website, information, and a way to contact us if needed. Also, we welcome any new ideas one may have about the paper which can be sent to us via Twitter. We encourage students to join our club (meetings every Thursday after school) and give us feedback on articles and whether or not they’re enjoying the new format.

My personal outlook for the new online paper is that everyone, especially students, will be interested with what we are writing. We are trying to have a variety of topics so that the paper can be as diverse as possible. From pop culture to school events, I am hoping that these articles will connect with many students’ interests. My main goal for this newspaper, as Editor-in-Chief, is that the student members are enjoying themselves and are able to write what they are most passionate about. Writing is the best way to express your feelings, thoughts, and ideas, especially when you get to share them with other people.

Patchogue-Medford is a fantastic school. Our building offers an array of extra curriculars that will appeal to almost every student. The Red & Black is one of those clubs that has something for everyone. Our organization is lucky enough to be able to attend a journalism conference at Columbia University in November, proving once again how supportive our building is of clubs. I would love if this new Red and Black online paper excels and becomes as well-known as it once was before.
