With the year coming to an end, the days and nights are getting colder and colder as winter is nearing. As a result, thousands of people without homes are in need of supplies to keep warm and stay dry during this snowy winter season. That’s why I, Sara Laschever, am asking you to please donate new packs of socks for all the people in need! I will be taking all of your sock donations to the local homeless shelter to help people less fortunate out.

One of the things the people in these homeless shelters need most are socks; yet, they are the least donated item. Because of the shortage of socks, homeless people are likely to suffer from foot disease and, especially in these cold winter months, are more susceptible to severe danger from the weather. A few examples of the hazards these people face from the cold weather are frostbite and hypothermia. The most common location for frostbite is on the hands and feet.  An estimated 2,000 homeless people died on the streets last year, and I want to lower that number as much as I can. So, I need your help!

In order to donate pairs of socks to the homeless, all you must do is bring in a new and unopened package of socks to the Main Office and drop them in the correct donation box. Just because someone may not have a home does not make them worth any less than, it just means that we need to step up and help them as much as we can. Thank you so much, I look forward to collecting your donations and helping others in need and I hope you do too!
