Ahhh… the constant back-to-school ads on repeat and the sweet smell of those new clothes you spent your whole summer pay on. That’s right- it’s back-to-school season. As the summer of 2018 comes to a close, whether you’re a terrified freshman trying to navigate our high school or a senior anticipating the final stretch, it’s now time for us all to unify as a community again and start this school year off right. As your President of G.O. for this school year, I would like to personally welcome back all of our faculty, staff, and students to the Patchogue-Medford 2018-2019 school year!

The mission of our G.O. this year is to emphasize students voices and to create an impactful change in which Patchogue-Medford spirit is one created and spoken by you- the students. Of course as the year begins, we are planning out some highly anticipated events such as Raider Bowl which will be September 25th at 6PM in the West Gym. As the announcement of this year’s homecoming theme will follow Raider Bowl, everyone will be prepared as Homecoming approaches, which will take place on October 13th! In addition, changes will be seen regarding our spirit weeks as we are working towards creating spirit days that will be designed as reflections of what our student body really wants.

Throughout the year, our G.O. anticipates increasing student involvement in decisions and events that affect our school and community. In our efforts to do this, I invite you to come join us and let your voice be heard. It is well-known that Pat-Med is a place of diversity and uniqueness and our G.O. wishes to become a holistic representation of our wonderful differences.

No matter what you may encounter this year, remember that anything you want to achieve can be achievable as long as you put the work and effort into it; high school isn’t always so easy, but nothing that’s worthwhile is. I encourage everyone to come back with an open, positive mind and get excited as we all prepare for this year of change in Pat-Med. To the incoming freshman, I wish the best of luck as you find yourselves in our school and to the rest of us, let’s make this the best year yet!
